A Journey To Wellness November 3-5, 2017

A weekend of yoga, meditation, spa time and mountain beauty at Wintergreen Resort.

Immerse yourself in activities to replenish the mind, body and spirit! In partnership with ' A Place to Breathe Meditation and Yoga Studio,' The Spa at Wintergreen Resort presents a weekend to kick start (or recharge) your wellness strategies. 

The beauty and tranquility of the Blue Ridge Mountains is the perfect setting for guided activities of yoga and meditation, along with informative sessions on herbal medicine and essential oils. Of course, there is free time to add spa services or simply enjoy the mountain. 

Friday, November 3

6:30-7:30 pm Welcome Reception
Enjoy hors d'oeuvres, pick up your gift bags and welcome packets with schedule, maps, menus, and other goodies!  
7:30-8 pm Opening Session - Affirmation and Journal Writing
With any journey, we must know where we are to understand where we would like to go.  As we begin the journey of retreat, participants will be guided in the art of intention setting.
8-9 pm Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep)
Yogic Sleep is an ancient practice of deep relaxation.  Using guided meditation (no experience required) this practice leads the students through progressive relaxation techniques.  Let go, release tension, and experience yogic sleep.

Saturday, November 4

On Your Own  Breakfast  
10-11 am  Beginners Meditation 
This session will cover some of the myths about meditation and get students comfortable with basic mindfulness techniques. Using the breath as a focus point, we will begin to calm the mind and explore this powerful stress reducing practice.  We will explore ways to bring mindfulness to our day-to-day life with this simple and effective approach.
11-11:15 am  Break
With light refreshments provided.
11:15 am-12:30 pm  Gentle Hatha Yoga
This class brings a mindfulness approach to movement. Gentle Hatha is a deeply effective way to connect to your “self” on many levels.  With the mind, we bring intention; with the body, we bring movement; with the breath, we bring awareness…the end result is ahhhhhhhhh.
12:30-2 pm  Lunch Buffet at The Copper Mine Bistro
Vegetarian offerings available.
2:15-3:45 pm  Basic Herbal Medicine: Time Honored Wisdom for Thriving in Modern Times
Presented by Heather Wetzel, Med, RH
3:45-4 pm  Break
With light refreshments provided.
4-5 pm  Yin Yoga
Yin is a practice of holding specific yoga poses for an extended period of time (props available), allowing the body the opportunity to open.  This class increases joint strength, lengthens muscles and increases flexibility.

On Your Own  Breakfast
8:30-9:45 am  Kundalini Yoga with Gong Relaxation  
Kundalini yoga is known as the yoga of awareness.  Using a series of postures, breath, and sound, this style of yoga helps you gain both a strong immune system and a strong nervous system .  Class ends with the amazing vibrations of a symphonic gong bath.
9:45-10 am  Tea and Coffee Available
10-11:30 am  Putting Wellness Choices Back in Your Hands with Essential Oils

Individual Yoga Consultations
A limited number of complimentary one-on-one consultations with the yoga/meditation instructors will be available on Sunday. This is an opportunity to ask questions and discuss appropriate home practice plans.  Session will be 20 minutes. First come/first serve. Sign-up sheet available upon arrival.
