Saturday and Sunday are perfect days to be on the mountain – mostly sunny with the high near 30 degrees. Overnight temps will be cold, so we’ll be making snow all night to get the slopes ready for your morning runs. And next week is looking like you should take a snowday at Wintergreen!
Check out the Slope Report each morning for the latest in slope openings.
SNOWPOWER comes back tonight! Our tank is full and our snowmakers are ready to turn the guns back on and prep the mountain for the weekend. Snowmaking could resume as early as 6-8 pm, so keep an eye on the Mountain Cams.
This next snowmaking run has a lot of potential. The window looks to be a week long, with nearly round-the-clock snowmaking opportunities. There’s even a chance for some natural snow, so THINK COLD!

Join us for the first holiday weekend of 2017! Snowmaking has allowed us to open more terrain and build our base. We plan to open Upper Wild Turkey, Cross Cut and possibly Upper Diamond Hill this weekend. Even though we’ve had a couple warm days, the highs on Saturday and Sunday will be near 40 degrees – great for enjoying outside fun.
There is also a possibility that ice overnight will force operational delays Saturday morning. If that happens, we will post updates on the website blog, and on social media. We expect the earliest updates will be around 7:30 am. Stay tuned!
January is Learn to Ski & Ride Month, and we suggest our Discover Skiing and Riding Program. If you’re new to winter sports, check out this How-To Video about putting on ski and snowboard boots. SNOWPOWER has a had a phenomenal run – nearly a week of round-the-clock snowmaking, aided by over 7 inches of natural snow. Talk about a perfect storm! When Mother Nature cooperates, we certainly make the most of it. During this past run, our snowmakers converted 29 million gallons of water into snow, opened more terrain, and laid down exquisite corduroy. And, we’re not done yet!
Coming up is one of winter’s great loooong weekends: Martin Luther King Weekend. We expect slope conditions to be fantastic. We’ve had lots of happy skiers and riders commenting on how great the ski surface is right now, and how well trails have been groomed. The current deep freeze will mellow out by this weekend, resulting in more enjoyable, seasonable winter temps. Plus, we’ll have almost all our trails open for you to enjoy, so come on up!
