Learn A Winter Sport At Wintergreen Resort
WINTERGREEN,
Va. (Dec. 19, 2011) – Wintergreen
Resort, twice named “Best Ski Resort” by readers of WashingtonPost.com, is
doing its part to embrace a growing national trend of introducing snow sports
to new audiences. While innovative in the Mid-Atlantic region,
Wintergreen Resort’s multiple programs are part of a national industry-wide
effort to attract newer participants – no matter the age or ability level – and
convert them into loyal skiers and riders.
With
Wintergreen’s ski and ride and the holiday seasons in full bloom, now is an
ideal opportunity for individuals looking to learn (or even improve upon) a
winter sport to take advantage of the array of options available. Here is
a closer look:
- Guaranteed Learn to Ski or Snowboard. The Wintergreen staff guarantees that skiers
(ages 6 and older) and riders (ages 8 and older) will be turning and
stopping by the end of the first lesson. More information: www.wintergreenresort.com/Guaranteed-Learn-to-Ski/.
- Group Lessons (Beginner and Intermediate). Beginner ski and snowboard group lessons (ages 8 and
older) are for those who have never skied or snowboarded before or have
only tried either sport a few times. Lessons are 75 minutes and are
taught throughout the day. The cost is just $36, and those who rent
their equipment at Wintergreen save 50 percent on their group
lesson. In addition, Mighty-Mite Beginner Group Ski Lessons, for
ages 6 to 7, also are readily available, as are private lessons.

- 5th & 6th Grade Snow License® Program. This program, which begins Jan. 2, is designed to
encourage skiing and snowboarding opportunities for youngsters and provides
free lift tickets to youths currently enrolled in fifth and sixth graders
(including those who are home schooled) who reside in Virginia, Maryland,
District of Columbia, North Carolina or West Virginia. More
information: www.wintergreenresort.com/snow-license/.
- Home School Program. Since home schoolers may have the flexibility to take
advantage of weekday visits – meaning shorter lift lines and more runs –
this program, valid Tuesdays through Thursdays starting Jan. 3, provides
discounted lift tickets, rentals and group lessons, plus a free tubing
session at The Plunge Snow Tubing Park. More information: www.wintergreenresort.com/Home-Schools/.
- “Get on Board Virginia!” For just $49, the “Get on Board Virginia!”
program enables guests to purchase a lift ticket, rent equipment and
partake in a group lesson – a value of nearly $125 if purchased
separately. The program is in effect Mondays through Fridays January
2 through the end of the season. Those wishing to take advantage of
the program should visit the Wintergreen Resort web site and print out the
“Get On Board” coupon, which is redeemable at the cashier window.
