VARIETY ADDS SPICE TO FAMILY FUN DURING WINTERGREEN’S UNIQUE
MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. WEEKEND 

WINTERGREEN, Va.  (January 5, 2012) — Variety adds spice to Wintergreen Resort’s Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, January 13-16.  Fun activities and entertainment for all members of the family include skiing and snowboarding, Freestyle equipment demos, ice skating, live music, hot chocolate tasting and even a campfire with s’mores. 

Wintergreen’s slopes are open to skiers and snowboarders daily from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. 

Discovery Ridge Adventure Center is a one-stop fun-loving location with climbing tower ($10), bungee trampoline ($10), indoor mini golf, Take The Plunge (two-hour session weekend/holiday $28) and The Zip (one ride $10; two rides $15).  To take the chill off, winter enthusiasts can warm-up at the Discovery Ridge campfire with make-your-own s’mores ($10 per kit). 

Ridgely’s Fun Park is open all day for young children who want to play in the snow (adult plus children ages 3-11 $15 for a one-hour session, additional child is $10, additional parent $5).  Family Broomball grabs the mid-day time slot at Shamokin Ice outdoor skating rink.

Saturday and Sunday, guests can test the latest, greatest equipment at Freestyle demo days atop Acorn Run.  Live entertainment heats up the night at The Edge featuring Southern Company playing rock n’ roll, blues and classics from 9:30 p.m.-midnight. 

Sunday, Skyline Pavilion gets musical with “Mixing Up the Tunes,” and the Night Rail Jam Competition sponsored by Subaru gets underway at 6 p.m.  Also Sunday, men will race from the top of Acorn in the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association/Southern Alpine Racing Association Giant Slalom Race - Junior Class 1-6 Race. 

Wintergreen’s package rate for Martin Luther King Weekend begins at $147 per person, per night, double occupancy per bedroom.  Each night of stay includes lodging and an 8-hour session lift ticket for the next day.  The package includes:
