SANTA ARRIVES BY CHAIRLIFT FOR WINTERGREEN FAMILY HOLIDAY

WINTERGREEN,
Va. (October 30, 2012) - Wintergreen
Resort has Santa booked to arrive at Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountain
destination via chairlift this holiday season with a sack full of merriment and
good cheer. The Jolly Old Elf will make his annual rounds on the ski
slopes, visit Ridgely’s Fun Park and ride Wintergreen’s signature snow
tubing Plunge.
The resort’s
annual Blue Ridge Mountain Family Christmas celebration begins Dec. 23 with
complimentary cookie decorating and story reading with Mrs. Claus and Santa’s
Elves at the Gristmill for members and registered Wintergreen Resort
guests.
Santa
arrives on Dec. 24 to dole out his goodies on the ski slope and at appointed
locations around the resort between noon and 2 p.m. In the evening,
Wintergreen staff will be on hand to take family photos in front of the festive
Christmas tree located in the ballroom. A Christmas Eve nondenominational
worship service will be held at 7 p.m. in the ballroom with refreshments
following.
On Christmas
Day, holiday guests can celebrate across the mountain with a full array of
activities available and outlets open and ready to enjoy!
Wintergreen
promises its own Santa’s sack full of holiday family activities that will
include Family Broomball at Shamokin Ice with two 20-minute sessions plus with
a complimentary hot chocolate and doughnut break between games (Dec.
27).
Guests can
build and race a classic cardboard vehicle made solely from cardboard and duct
tape. The race starts at Ridgely’s Fun Park with prizes awarded for the
fastest, most creative, and best design (Dec. 28).
Another
favorite, ice bowling at Shamokin Ice is popular with all ages especially with
prizes given to the best bowlers age 7 and under, 8 -12, 13 and over, plus
complimentary refreshments (Dec. 29).
Fireworks at
10 p.m. New Year’s Eve will explode high above snowy slopes to welcome
2013. The evening promises plenty of celebrating with parties planned for
children, teens and adults. Discovery Ridge Adventure Center welcomes teens
ages 13-17 for a New Year’s Eve countdown complete with x box, Wii, Rock Band,
Guitar Hero, mechanical bull and refreshments that include sparking juices.
Prizes will be awarded during hourly competitions.
