Wintergreen Resort offers learn to ski or snowboard programs for all ages and ability levels based on the American Teaching System. Whether your aim is to conquer Potato Patch or hit The Highlands in style, our instructors will help you reach your goals.
Sign up at the Snowsports school desk on the middle level of the Skyline Pavilion Ski Center. You will need a pre-purchased lift ticket and equipment for group lessons, private lessons and specialty workshops. Please allow at least one hour to pick up your rentals and get situated before your lesson.

Snowsports School Programs for Adults and Children
Guaranteed Learn to Ski or Snowboard (GLS)
Whenever you start to learn anything new, it takes time. We've found that if you take at least three lessons, you'll stay with the sport for life. And with our GLS package, we guarantee you'll learn to ski or snowboard and SAVE money. Click here for the details of this program.
Group Lessons (Beginner & Intermediate)
Beginner:
Beginner Ski and Snowboard group lessons (ages 8 & above) are for those who have never skied/snowboarded before or have only tried skiing/snowboarding once or twice. Primary focus for the lesson will be familiarization of the equipment and learning to turn and stop proficiently. Lessons are 75 minutes in length (1.25 hours) and are taught at 9:30 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2:30 pm, 4 pm, and 5:30 pm. Cost: $36 (rent our ski or snowboard equipment and save 50% on your beginner group lesson – that’s only $18).
Mighty-Mite Beginner Group Ski Lesson (age 6-7, skiing only) are for those who have never skied before or have only tried skiing once or twice. Primary focus for the lesson will be familiarization of the equipment and learning to turn and stop proficiently. Lessons are 75 minutes in length (1.25 hours) and are taught at 9:30 am, 11 am, 1 pm and 5:30 pm. Cost: $36 (rent our ski or snowboard equipment and save 50% on your beginner group lesson – that’s only $18).
Intermediate:
Intermediate Ski and Snowboard group lessons (ages 8 & above) are for those who have skied/ snowboarded before and are proficient with turning and stopping and riding a chairlift. Primary focus for the lesson will be improving technique and improving turning/stopping proficiency. Lessons are 75 minutes in length (1.25 hours) and are taught at 11 am and 2:30 pm daily. Cost: $42 (rent our ski or snowboard equipment and save 50% on your intermediate group lesson – that’s only $21).
Private Ski & Snowboard Lessons
Private lessons are not only a great way to learn to ski or snowboard, but you can revamp your skills and become a better skier or snowboarder. Private instruction offers you one-on-one coaching and instruction with a PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America)/AASI (American Association of Snowboard Instructors) trained instructor. Our instructors have the passion to help you learn to love skiing and snowboarding as much as they do. Lift ticket and equipment rental is not included in the price of the lesson. Participants are required to have a valid lift ticket.
Private Lesson Times: 8 am/Early Bird*, 9:30 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2:30 pm, 4 pm, 5:30 pm.

Specialty Lessons, Men's Clinics &Women’s Specialty Clinics
Mom, Dad and Me – Ski/Snowboard Private Lesson
Do you want to know what your child should be working on next and how to help them ski/ride better? The lesson is focused solely on child instruction with an introduction on how to continue teaching your child (not a lesson for teaching a parent and a child). Open to children that can ski/ride Potato Patch terrain and above. One parent can accompany their child in the lesson at the established rate, additional parent can attend for $49.

Wintergreen Men's Friday Ski Clinics

Men's Ski Clinics, offered on Fridays from late January through mid February, are geared for men who want to improve their skiing skills (skiing only clinic), taught by Wintergreen’s PSIA certified instructors. The clinics are from 9 am-2:30 pm. Lunch and instruction is included (1 Day Clinic: $119; All Four Clinics: $400). Lift ticket and rental equipment not included.

If lesson is canceled 48 hours prior to lesson start, a full refund is offered;
Less than 48 hours and more than 24 hours to lesson start: 25% scheduling fee;
