Special Exclusive Privileges for WPI Members

In order for Wintergreen Resort to ensure superior accessibility and preferential value for its WPI Members, the following exclusivity benefits became effective May 28, 2010:

  • Devils Knob Golf Course
    Tee times available only for WPI Members* and Resort Guests* up to 12:00 noon on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays.
  • Devils Knob Tennis
    Members and Resort Guests may reserve indoor courts up to two (2) weeks in advance. Non-members, their guests and the general public may reserve indoor courts for weekends and holidays beginning at 1:00 pm on the Friday of that weekend.
  • Lake Monocan
    Open only to Members and Resort Guest on Saturdays.
  • Stoney Creek Pool, Tennis and Fitness Center
    Open only to Members and Resort Guests all day, every day. Any non-member play must be accompanied by a Member, or associated with a Member/USTA Event. Standard Court Fees Apply.
  • Wintergarden Aquatics and Fitness Center
    Open only to Members and Resort Guests all day every day.
  • NOTE: *Exclusivity group included WPI Members, Primary Family, Extended Family, Guests of WPI Members, Guests of Members and Rental Pool Guests must present a current photo ID or Resort Lodging Registration Card for exclusive privileges.

WPI Membership

Wintergreen is a beautiful and unique resort. Among 11,000 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains, 6,000 of which are protected for research and conservation, Wintergreen Resort is a four-season resort adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway in Nelson and Augusta Counties, Virginia. Wintergreen is the one of the only four season resorts in the U.S. that is owned and operated by its Equity Members. There are currently over 1,700 Members who have helped create a world class destination that combines resort amenities and a Membership club lifestyle for the entire family.

Wintergreen Partners, Inc.

Wintergreen Partners, Inc. (WPI) is a non-stock, not-for-profit Membership corporation that owns and operates the Wintergreen Resort facilities and services. It is the mission of WPI to enhance and maintain the quality of life at Wintergreen for its guests and Members. WPI operates from revenues generated from public guests and annual dues from its Members.

Requirements of Membership

There are four basic requirements for a WPI Membership:

  1. Ownership of Wintergreen property, developed or undeveloped
  2. A Right of Membership must be attached to the property. The price of a Right of Membership is $9,000*. Once attached, the Right of Membership conveys in perpetuity, regardless of changes of ownership.
  3. The payment of an Activation Fee activates a Premier Equity or a Non-Equity Membership. The Activation Fee for a Premier Equity Membership is $12,000 or $5,000 for a Non-Equity Membership. Financing at 0% is available for both types of membership.
  4. Annual Dues are paid every year.

Annual Dues

Annual Dues play a critical role in the healthy and successful operations of the resort. It is important to note that Annual Dues are not usage fees but rather a Member's responsibility and contribution in support of the operations of the resort. Essentially, the more support a Member offers the resort, the more the benefits that will be afforded to that Member. Likewise, less support reaps fewer benefits. Annual Dues are billed each year and an early discount period for savings is offered.

Member Benefits

Benefits for Members vary in accordance with the amount of support provided through Annual Dues each year, ranging from unlimited recreation to a social discount program. Support and correlating benefits can be changed from year to year and each level provides benefits for family and guests as well as the primary member.

Wintergreen is truly unique in the realm of American resorts and the four-season experience it offers. It offers affordable equity positions to Members and competitive rates when compared with other resorts, many of which fall far short of offering four-season amenities. Premier Equity Members have corporate ownership pride in helping to maintain the uniqueness and competitiveness of Wintergreen, while also enhancing the value of their real estate investments at Wintergreen.
