Farewell February

Afternoon Update

She Jumps ….

Wild Skills Junior Ski Patrol, a day camp at Wintergreen Resort, was held on Sunday, February 24. Young girls learned mountain safety and first aid while working with the strong women and men of the ski patrol community.

This event was open to intermediate to expert skiers/snowboarders ages 8 - 17 who identify as female. They are split into teams based on their skier ability and then rotate through different stations. Throughout the day, girls are taught a range of outdoor skills utilized by ski patrollers to keep the mountain safe. Girls work alongside female patrollers and volunteers to learn more about the many facets of mountain safety and first aid. Visit SheJumps.org for more information or email Landon Figg at [email protected].

Morning Report:

Today we bid February farewell, and what a February it’s been. Awesome conditions all month, 100% terrain is still open. Beautiful white snow! Celebrate the close of the month at Wintergreen.

Today will be partly sunny during the day with temperatures in the low 40s. Precipitation will start after the sun sets - it could be rain or it could be snow. Cross your fingers for SNOW!

The buzz on the mountain is how great conditions are – it’s incredible – and so much fun. Next week will prove Wintergreen Will was right - winter isn’t over. We’ll have a nice stretch of cooler temperatures all week long. We built the slopes to last and we plan to ski, ride and tube well into March.

Pretty Perrrrrrrfect, Again!

Afternoon Update

It’s been another great day at Wintergreen. Lots of you came early and enjoyed the milder temperatures. Wintergreen Will was out and he disagrees with Punxsutawney Phil - he’s seeing six more weeks of winter. So the cold weather isn’t over yet – and that’s a good thing.

Conditions are out of this world right now and the snow isn’t going away anytime soon. We’re starting February strong and will end even stronger!

Monday will be a sunny day and mild, so dress in layers, it’s going to be another beautiful day.  See you on the slopes.

Morning Report:

Get out the sunscreen, peel off a layer and head to the mountain today! It’s going to be another great day on top of the Blue Ridge. Mostly sunny and spring-like temperatures. More importantly, ALL 25 of our slopes are open for the most excellent skiing and riding.

The rental team is offering a free ski and snowboard inspection. Stop by and make sure your equipment is in tip top shape. And if you want a machine wax for your equipment, it will only set you back $5 today.

Don’t forget Happy Hour at Checkerberry Cabin from 1-4 pm – great place for a break from the slopes with draft beer and food specials.

Make the most of your Sunday!

100% Open = 100% Fun

After a very cold and productive week of snowmaking, our Mountain Ops Crew was able to drop the ropes on those last few trails.  All ski and snowboard terrain is 100% with edge to edge coverage and superb surface conditions!  The extremely cold air temperature this week allowed us to churn out an excellent snow product. Skiers and riders will see the best conditions of the year today -  Enjoy!

Happy Ground Dog Day!  Our hope is that fabled prognosticator sees his shadow so we can keep skiing and riding for as long as possible which was the goal of all the hard core snowmaking happening this week.  We had a few whale sightings on the mountain, in fact, there were pods of whales all over the trails.  That's what we call those large piles of accumulated snow that eventually get pushed out to make our base which helps us weather the weather.

If your legs aren't too tired from skiing 100% of the terrain today, head over to The Edge for live music and dancing from 3-6pm and again from 8-11pm.  Looking for something a little different?  Try our Saturday Night Silent Disco Fever at The Terrace Cafe from 6-8pm.  You really have to see it to believe it!  Boogie-Woogie!

Wide Open and Full Speed Ahead!

Afternoon Update

Who has the snow?
We have the snow – piles of it!
Best conditions of the season
100% of our terrain is open!

The weekend has started – it’s going to be fantastic.

Morning Report:

It’s a start of a new month and a PERFECT weekend at Wintergreen. Today will see some clouds and temps below freezing, but not as cold as the past few days. Saturday and Sunday will be sunshiny days with the high in the low 40’s. Today we’ll have everything wide open except Outer Limits. Tomorrow Outer Limits will open bringing us to 100% of our terrain covered in a beautiful white corduroy carpet. Don’t miss the best conditions of the season.

For our Richmond fans, tune in to WRVA for the morning show with John Reid. He’s brought the Reid on the Road show to Wintergreen and is doing a live broadcast from the Terrace Café. If you’re here, stop in and say hi. They’re going to stick around for a bit after the show and will check out tubing this afternoon. Fun on the slopes at Wintergreen!
