July 19: Love Canon
Wintergreen Music is revamping the annual celebration of all things bluegrass. We begin on Friday evening with an exciting show by Charlottesville’s Love Canon – a band that combines the great hits of the 80s and 90s with a mountain music sensibility. Come early for our tasty dining options. Present your Love Canon concert ticket at The Edge and receive a 10% discount on a pre-concert dinner.. Or check out the Prime Rib special at The Copper Mine Bistro (sorry, no discount). Reserve early, it's a sell out - 434-325-8090. Then, stick around for Saturday morning when we pepper the Resort with traditional Appalachian music, fun for the entire family.
July 26: Motown Madness with Masters of Soul
“I heard it through the Grapevine” that Masters of Soul is returning for this Wintergreen tradition. With the band’s silky tones and kickin’ instrumentals, we’ll be “Dancing in the Streets”, or rather on the Mountain.
August 2: Salsa Night with Bio Ritmo
Join us for an energetic evening of Latin groove, performed by Richmond’s popular salsa band Bio Ritmo. These musicians will have your toes tapping with that famous sound of bongos, congas, and yes, more cowbell.
What A Difference 3000 Feet Make!
Temperatures in the Mid-Atlantic will be HOT over the next ten days with highs in triple digits. But not at Wintergreen - it's the magic of a 3000 foot elevation difference. You can escape the sweltering summer heat and come to the mountains where temps are 12-15 degrees cooler - a delightful way to spend a sunny day. Plus we have 10,000 acres of shade! See you on the mountain.

For centuries mankind has been fascinated by the moon. We
know the moon effect tides, animal and plant life, and human mental state
(think lunatic) and bio-rhythms. We even see a human face outlined in the
craters and topography of the moon.
Fifty years ago, on July 16, 1969 Apollo 11 launched into
outer space on a quest to put man on the moon and better understand this
powerful influence in our daily lives. The successful mission included Neil
Armstrong’s and Buzz Aldrin’s historic moon walk, spending 21.5 hours on the
lunar surface, collecting 47.5 pounds of lunar material and more than eight
days in space. This weekend we pay tribute to these American heroes for
their bravery in exploring the new space frontier.
Let’s celebrate the moon! From the Charlottesville Astronomy Club’s viewing the moon through their hi-powered telescopes, to photo ops of kids in space suits, to MoonPies and kids lunar crafts, we pay tribute to this magical moon. This Thursday the United States of America celebrates its 243rd birthday - and we’re going to celebrate all weekend! Starting with breakfast on Thursday through Sunday afternoon, we have activities and events to keep you and your family happy and smiling.
It’s going to be a spectacular LONG weekend. And did we mention the top of the mountain will be 10-15 degrees cooler than your hometown. We’ll have temps in the low 80s – warm enough to know it’s summer, but cool enough to enjoy being outside. We still have some lodging available, so make the July 4th a Wintergreen Escape to remember and stay on top of the mountain!
Happy Birthday, USA!Last Edited by Mountain Messenger on Tuesday, July 02, 2019
