We’ll have temps in the low 80s – warm enough to know it’s summer, but cool enough to enjoy being outside. We still have some lodging available, so make the July 4th a trip to remember and stay on top of the mountain. What would summer be without splashing around in the cool waters of a mountain lake!? Wintergreen Resort features Lake Monocan, a private lake tucked into the Rockfish Valley at the base of the mountain. Lake Monocan is a 20-acre lake perfect for swimming and cooling off during the summer months. Guests can relax and play on the sandy beach area, pack a picnic to enjoy in the shaded picnic area or rent one of the outdoor charcoal grills for a true summer BBQ. A larger pavilion is available to rent for private parties or events. Watercraft rentals including paddleboards, kayaks and aquabikes are available for rent so guests can explore the entire lake. The Beach Hut can answer any questions and offers snacks and drinks for sale. There are convenient restrooms with showers available for lake-goers.
The lake is open to Wintergreen Members and Resort Lodging Guests Sundays and Tuesday thru Thurs from 11am-5pm and Fridays thru Saturdays from 11am to 6pm starting June 11, weather permitting. The general public are welcome for a nominal fee, excluding Saturdays. Guests are permitted to bring their own beach chairs, shades, kayaks or paddleboards. Life jackets are required for certain activities and will be provided. We hope to see you at the Lake soon. Check The Wintergreen Weekly for operating hours this week.
