Meet Kate Chenery Tweedy
A native of Denver, Colorado, Kate Chenery Tweedy
is the daughter of Secretariat’s late owner Penny Chenery, and granddaughter of
his breeder, Christopher Chenery. She grew up visiting her grandfather’s farm,
The Meadow, in Doswell, Virginia, and watching his Thoroughbreds race at major
tracks nationwide. In 1973, as a college student, she was at her mother’s side
when Secretariat demolished the field in the Belmont Stakes and became the
first Triple Crown winner in 25 years.
Kate will have copies of her book, Secretariat's Meadow for sale. It a story about The Land, The Family, and The Legend.
