Despite the ongoing Covid-19 mitigation efforts at Wintergreen Resort, about a dozen of our employees have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 36 hours. Almost all of them were fully vaccinated. The confirmed cases have not been identified as Delta or Omicron variants, but a wider spread is possible as the Omicron variant spreads rapidly as seen in the news including in NFL, NBA, and NHL sports teams.
Unfortunately, Wintergreen is not immune to the recent nationwide surge. Vigilance will be key to controlling further spread of the virus. The individuals who tested positive are now being quarantined. We take this matter very seriously, and since the pandemic is a community issue, we believe it is important to communicate the situation to our guests, membership, homeowners, and staff so that you can understand our decisions and can make adjustments to our revised masking policy.
Wintergreen Resort is committed to following recommendations from the CDC and state and local health authorities to provide a safe environment for everyone. This includes taking steps to address and mitigate our local situation even when those steps might be different from those in other locales or environments.
Effective today, we are requiring everyone – employees, members, and visitors alike – to wear masks indoors at Wintergreen Resort, regardless of their vaccination status. Signage will be posted immediately to communicate this revised masking policy regardless of your vaccination status.
We know this will not be a universally popular decision. We understand that, but we ask everyone to comply so we can mitigate this recent bump in cases and can keep it from spreading further.
Guests are reminded to physically distance six feet apart from other guests and staff whenever possible. Please remember to regularly wash hands or use hand sanitizer when washing is not possible. We offer other Covid-19 mitigation means including the use of automated lift ticket pick-up boxes, and our mobile FanFood app for contactless transactions and food & beverage ordering at The Edge and Upper Crust.
that we are as tired of the pandemic and masks as everyone else, but our efforts
are meant to minimize further impacts from this recent increase in cases. Our
hope is to lift mask restrictions as soon as possible, but please be aware that
additional mitigation steps such as loading lifts at less than full capacity maybe
necessary. Please stay tuned to our website, www.wintergreenresort.com for the latest updates.
