L.F. Payne was involved with Wintergreen in the early stage of development and masterminded the project from the early 1970's to a full-fledged, thriving resort development with a full range of sports and recreational amenities. The mission was to accomplish this development by protecting the natural beauty of the area and involve and employ people from Nelson County. He will be joined by his good friend, and former Attorney General of Virginia, Tony Troy, and Doug Coleman, Executive Director of the Nature Foundation. Together, they will revisit the history of Wintergreen Resort!

Having joined the OLLI staff in April, 2019, Kara will be speaking about her new role as Executive Director and the programming that’s planned for the New Year! Courses are conveniently offered in Charlottesville and surrounding areas. Upwards of 90 classes will be offered in 2020; topics include, but are not limited to history, public policy, art, health and well-being! OLLI classes are open to all adults interested in continuing their education!

These two powerhouses of marketing acumen will share stories of how their creative marketing put Wintergreen on the map.
Robert worked at Wintergreen from the mid-70’s through the early 80’s and was an integral part of designing the Wintergreen logo and setting the stage launching Wintergreen.
Mark worked at Wintergreen from 1986 through 1999 and brought Wintergreen to life with inspired events and promotions. Read all about it in Mark’s book, Marketing Paradise. Copies will be available before and after the presentation.
