Fly Fishing

Perfect setting to start your fly fishing journey.

Wintergreen Resort and Mossy Creek Fly fishing get back together to offer Fly Fishing instruction at Wintergreen Resort. The “classroom” portion will be held at the Lake Monocan Clubhouse and the ponds behind Lake Monocan will be utilized for the casting and on water instruction.

Mossy Creek’s professional instructors have years of experience and are as excited about teaching as they are about fishing. Our student-to-teacher ratios are four or fewer students to instructor, providing first-rate, personal attention for each student.

All of the necessary gear is provided including rods, reels, flies, and tackle. We strongly encourage participants to bring a hat and sunglasses.

This 4-hour class includes:

  • Fly casting techniques
  • Essential fly fishing knots
  • Choose your gear and tackle
  • Bug science, aka stream entomology
  • Proper fly selection
  • Reading the water and currents
  • Playing, landing, and safely releasing fish
  • 5 students max per instructor

We welcome the opportunity to get you started off on the right foot as you learn this marvelous sport. For specific information regarding the classes, please email [email protected] or call 540-434-2444.
