Friday, January 12

7:00pm – 9:00pm Winter Lecture Series – Invasive Species: What do Burmese pythons, the red berries on holiday wreaths, and COVID-19 have in common? All are introduced invasive species that are reshaping ecosystems, disrupting economies, and contributing to the spread of disease. Join us as Bryon Brown, Associate Professor of the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech and a key member of the Invasive Species Working Group, delves into the critical work of the ISWG in addressing invasive species. He will also share his research on invasive crayfish and their impact on the delicate balance of our streams and rivers. Refreshments provided.

11:00am – 12:00pm Drop In Tennis Drop-In Tennis Doubles is a popular, well-attended event and a great way to meet other tennis players in our community. Come join the fun! 12:00pm Ribs and Jibs Terrain Park Rail Jam: Wintergreen Resort presents its third annual Winter Freestyle Ski and Board Event, Ribs and Jibs. Every year this event becomes bigger and better, competitors and tricks included! We have space for registration and awards, and great sponsors supplying cool prizes and raffle giveaways! 12:00pm – 4:00pm DJ Berasi on the Terrace! Take a break from the slopes and start a dance party on the Blue Ridge Terrace.

12:00pm – 4:00pm Terrace Grill Out: Join us on the Blue Ridge Terrace for hot and fresh food straight off the grill. Grab a beer or canned cocktail and boogie to the DJ’s tunes.

12:00pm Plushie Scavenger Hunt: Plushies (stuffed animals) will be hidden around the ski slopes, playground and Blue Ridge Terrace, keep an eye out for your favorite and take it home with you! (This event is intended for children under the ages of 10, but big kids and adults are encouraged to help the little ones find their favorite animal!)

1:00pm Living with Nature Hike: Join a Foundation Naturalist for an interpretive hike. Explore Wintergreen’s natural environment during the exhilarating month of January! These hikes are rated moderate. Payment is due at time of registration.

3:00pm – 6:00pm Live Music at The Edge – Shane Click: Shane Click is an award-winning artist and performer best known for his huge play list of songs and enthusiasm. 5:30pm Glow Stick Parade: Light up the night with us during night skiing! Participating guests will receive glow sticks at the top of Blue Ridge Express and may ride with the group down to the bottom of the lift or continue on their own. Must have valid lift ticket.

8:00pm – 11:00pm Live Music at the Edge – Ben Phelps Project: The Ben Phelps Project is a five-piece band from Virginia that focuses on creating a style all their own merging elements of jazz, acoustic folk, blues, and rock into a melting pot of southern soul featuring soaring saxophone and guitar solos. 434-325-8080

3:00pm – 6:00pm Live Music at The Edge – Brent Hull: Brent Hull is an Augusta County native that has been performing regionally for the past 25 plus years either solo, duo or in the full band, “Maybe Tomorrow”. Hull plays a wide variety including: country, pop, rock, hip-hop, and original songs and no two shows are the same. He is famous for his “mash ups” that manage to mix songs that you would not think went together. 434-325-8080

Moment of Silence Take some time today to reflect and be thankful for Martin Luther King, Jr. and the key role he played in seeking equality and human rights for African Americans, the economically disadvantaged, and all victims of injustice through peaceful protest. Listen to his most famous speech, “I Have a Dream” and be inspired.
