10/24/25 – Testing Testing… 1, 2, Snow!

Our brand new TechnoAlpin TT10s are fired up, tested, and ready for the right temps to start making that beautiful white gold. Winter is almost here

10/10/25 – Welding and installation

Welding is nearly complete on the new water lines connecting our mains to the laterals for Wintergreen’s brand-new TechnoAlpin TT10 fan guns! Next up, electrical lines will bring these cutting-edge machines online, fully integrated into our automated snowmaking system. Our new guns are already being placed in their permanent home locations on freshly set concrete pits—becoming an important part of the Wintergreen landscape.

We can already see the difference: Upper Dobie will be skiing tree line-to-tree line without a single gun in the middle of the slope, thanks to these TT10s. And this is just the beginning. Soon, these state-of-the-art snowmaking system and our fantastic team of snowmakers will be painting the slopes white for another incredible season of skiing and sliding.

A Major Leap Forward

New TechnoAlpin TT10s Arrive

At the center of this multi-phase improvement plan is a major snowmaking upgrade on Dobie and the Central Mountain area — home to some of our most utilized terrain. This winter, we will deploy ten brand-new, high-output TechnoAlpin TT10 fan guns, replacing all existing fixed guns and initiating a full redesign of the trail’s snowmaking strategy.

This next-generation equipment represents a technological leap that dramatically increases snow volume, quality, and coverage, while also reducing energy consumption and startup times. The result? potential for Faster openings, longer seasons, and better skiing… from day one.

Why it Matters:

  • Greater output: TT10s deliver industry-leading snow production, capable of creating deep, wide coverage faster than ever.
  • Full trail refresh: Dobie will see improved base-building capacity from top to bottom.
  • Stronger early season: Our push to open terrain quickly — and keep it open — begins here.

Fleet Optimization Across the Mountain

In tandem with the Dobie expansion, we are strategically redeploying our existing snowmaking fleet to ensure more efficient coverage across the mountain:

  • TL8s and current fan guns will be reassigned to priority trails and zones where they can have the greatest impact.
  • This allows us to increase early-season capacity and strengthen snow depth in key guest areas — improving both reliability and grooming conditions across Wintergreen.

More Than a Makeover

The Start of a Resort-Wide Transformation

This season’s investment is just the beginning. These changes mark Phase One of a multi-year initiative to modernize Wintergreen’s entire snowmaking infrastructure — and reestablish our mountain as a leader in East Coast snow reliability.

  • Dobie will serve as the template for future trail upgrades, helping shape how we plan, build, and sustain snowmaking across the mountain.
  • Our new approach blends technology, terrain strategy, and energy efficiency — all in service of one goal: delivering the best skiing and riding experience possible.

Wintergreen Is All In

This is not just about adding snow guns — this is about raising the bar. We’re making the investments that ensure Wintergreen is ready for the next generation of mountain guests. More reliable snow, smarter systems, and a stronger mountain experience… all built with the future in mind.
