Fishing with the Wintergreen Sporting Club

Spring is here and it’s time to fish! The Wintergreen Sporting Club (WSC) has an active group of fisher-folk who enjoy the sport and sharing their stories of the ones that got away. They host a popular, but very informal get together to talk fishing. They usually meet at Wild Wolf Brewery monthly on the first Monday afternoon of the month at 4 pm. If the weather is nice they’ll meet outside in the beer garden, otherwise you'll find them on the inside porch. Join them and you’ll get an insider peek at what’s happening in the fishing world of Stoney Creek – where the fish are biting, what baits have been successful, etc. Everyone is welcome and WSC membership is not required. There is no cost; the only pre-requisite is to love fishing, or want to learn about the sport, and be willing to share your experience and ask questions.

Questions? Email Chris Corish: ccorish@wellsfargo.com

The Wintergreen Sporting Club is for people who love the outdoors and outdoor sports – archery, boating, shooting, biking and fishing. But there is also a social and service aspect to the group which is expanding. Learn more!

Big news! I finally caught a grass carp!, says Chris Corish. “i had noticed the carp were eating the pellet food the club is feeding on trout pond so i cast a pellet fly on Saturday morning (March 30) to a couple of cruising carp and one actually took it. I guessed the carp was 35-40 lbs. It took me almost 30 minutes to reel in.”

One More Weekend of Skiing and Riding

Good Morning! We had an over the top weekend with beautiful sunny days and lots of fun on the slopes. The season is winding down and the slopes will be closed midweek. But we have one more weekend of winter fun. Make sure you head to the mountain for your last runs of the 2018-19 season.

Drop in play is available Mondays and Tuesday from 12:30-2 pm. You can reserve a court on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-2 pm. Indoor tennis is also available for play.

Racquet sports aren’t your thing? Check out golf down at Stoney Creek, hiking on 30 miles of trails, fishing in streams and ponds, swimming at the indoor pool, or bicycle riding. There’s still plenty of outdoor playtime this spring.

100% Open and Conditions are Great!

Afternoon Update

It's a beautiful bluebird day out on the slopes. The conditions are just as good as advertised. We've had cold enough temps for snowmaking all day and the trails are looking great. Night skiing goes until 9pm so put on an extra layer and come on up.

Join us at the edge this evening from 8-11pm for some live music from The John Spear Band.

We will have snowmaking through the night and into the day again tomorrow, which means conditions will be even better tomorrow than they were today. That is hard to believe because today was on point!

If we don't see you tonight we will hopefully see you in the morning. Have a great evening!

Morning Update

What a beautiful morning and we are in for an even better day. What a difference a day can make. The slopes got a fresh coat of snow overnight and conditions are great. We are 100% open even with that curveball mother nature tried to throw our way.

If you don’t wear yourself out on the slopes make sure to try silent disco dancing at the Terrace Café, bullriding at DRAC, and join us for some live music at The Edge.

There are a few spots left for snowcat rides tonight so sign up now!

Come have a great day on the slopes with us!

FUNday Friday

Afternoon Update

We’re cruising on down to snowmaking temperatures! When the sun sets we’ll be ready to start the guns. We know how to turn on a dime and tomorrow morning you’ll see a transformation of the slopes with a fresh coat of snow groomed into perfect corduroy. Welcome to our winter wonderland!

Get ready for a stellar day on the slopes. The day will be sunny with some clouds and temps in the mid 20’s. What could be more perfect!

Come early and pack your day with winter time fun.

Morning Report:

It’s the start of a beautiful weekend. Winter temperatures are back tonight and we’ll be making lots of beautiful powder - it could even be round the clock snowmaking for a few days.

For today, bring your sunscreen, the sun will shine. Temperatures will drop all day, so bring some cold weather gear, too.

This afternoon stop by the lobby in the Mountain Inn for our Weekend Welcome with a tasting of Sushi & Cider from 4-5:30 pm. Complimentary sushi, cider, $5.

This evening join The Nature Foundation for a lecture on A Journey Along El Camino – Exploring the Pyrenees and pastoral scenes of antiquity. Peggy and Dick Whitehead will present an in depth review of their recent 500 mile hike along the El Camino Pilgrimage trail around Spain.

Enjoy your day on the slopes!

Make it the Best Day

Afternoon update

Friday is looking bright with the promise of returning cold temperatures. We’re chomping at the bit to start making beautiful white snow. But before we get to snowmaking tomorrow night, it will be a great day on the slopes. The sun will shine, you can shed a few layers and enjoy being outdoors.

Smile, it's going to be a great day at Wintergreen!

Morning Report

We hope you can steal away for some winter fun at Wintergreen today. Conditions are still good thanks to the strong base of snow we built. We are looking forward to tomorrow when temperatures will fall throughout the day. Snowmaking will resume Friday night with round the clock opportunities to refresh the slopes. We’ve got the tools, we’ve got the talent, we’ve got the power and we’ve got the passion for all things snow! It’s more than our business, it’s our life.

Our friend Will wanted you to see his new skis and helmet. He’s a cool dude and #1 in our book.
